? SNF Environment Cup: Where Football Grows Forests and Futures

When the whistle blew in Kajiado during the first-ever SNF Environment Football Cup (2024), it wasn't just the start of a match - it was the beginning of a movement. A movement to empower youth, restore the environment, and grow hope through sports and community action.

Seven community teams came together under the theme "Play for the Planet", blending football, culture, and conservation. Between matches, players and families planted trees, joined in traditional dances, and shared stories about protecting the land that sustains them.

From that day, a seed was planted, not just in the soil, but in the hearts of the people. With the help of the SNF borehole, tree planting and small-scale agriculture have begun to thrive, bringing water, life, and purpose back to this semi-arid region.

Alongside the environmental and sporting activities, the event also featured a Pad Drive that supported over 300 girls and women, providing menstrual dignity products and health education. This initiative reflected SNF's holistic approach to empowerment; caring not only for the environment but also for the well-being and dignity of the community.

The 2024 edition also created a lively local economy, with food vendors, artisans, and families coming together in celebration, showing how football can spark both social change and economic opportunity. This year, on December 13th, 2025, the SNF Environment Cup returns for its second edition, bigger, greener, and more impactful. Our vision remains clear: to use sports, agriculture, and environmental restoration as tools for transformation - empowering young people, supporting menstrual dignity, and increasing forest cover across Kajiado and beyond.
